Activities include presentations by nationally-known authors and historians, the unveiling and dedication of a Civil War historical marker at the museum (April 26), historical museum exhibits, living history programs at the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse (April 28-29), and an old-fashioned Civil War auction (April 28) to raise funds for the conference and for a restoration project.

Presentations include keynote addresses by James McPherson, Ed Bearss and Craig Symonds; panel discussions with McPherson, Symonds, Harry “Hari” Jones (Curator of the African American Civil War Memorial & Museum) and local historian Drew Pullen, moderated by Dr. Jeffrey Crow of the N.C.
